Blades Of Glory Blu-ray Review

5/22/08 Blades Of Glory Blu-ray Review
Written by Loys Johnson

Blades Of Glory comes to Blu-ray with a 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode, and looks great. a 1:85:1 aspect ratio means no black bars, which isn't a big deal at all, but a plus for me. The colors really pop off the screen and never fail to impress. The ice skating scenes are simply amazing. There's very little to criticize the transfer for, it's definitely an improvement over the DVD, and a good transfer to Blu-ray. Definitely not demo material, but for a comedy with no special effects, it looks great. 8/10

Blades Of Glory includes PCM 5.1 uncompressed surround track, which I also found very impressive. The competition comes to life with the uncompressed track. The cheers of the crowd, the skates grinding against the ice brings the atmosphere to your living room. Definitely impressive and definitely better than I expected. 8/10
