Video:
Prom Night comes to Blu-ray with a 1080p AVC/MPEG-4 video encode, and it's a mixed bag. The colors were actually quite good, very vibrant. It was bright and bold, and detail was quite good, but also quite soft at times as well. I feel the issues were mostly just with the source, not of the transfer. It definitely looks attractive, but it also has some not so shining moments. It by no means looked bad, but I was expecting a bit more pop to a recent release. 7.5/10.
Audio:Sony has given Prom Night a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround track, which did it's job. My biggest issue was the lack of surround use in the film, which takes a lot from the potential atmosphere of the film. Dialogue is always clear, and always there, it's more talking than anything else. The bass was quite good, when something horrible was about to happen, it just got kicking. But it still didn't bring that atmosphere necessary for the film, it wasn't a bad track, it just left me wanting a bit more. 7/10.
Extras:Audio Commentary
Alternate Ending
Deleted Scenes
Gag Reel
The Making Of Prom Night
Profile Of A Killer
Creating the Pacific Grand Hotel
Real Life Prom Stories
Blu-ray Exclusive:
Picture-in-Picture Track
'Where Is The Best Place To Hide A Body?' Poll (BD-Live)
Trailers for other Sony Blu-ray titles (BD-Live)
Prom Night has quite a few extras, all in standard definition of course, very dissapointing. Exclusive to the Blu-ray is a Picture-in-Picture track, as well as BD-Live features. The BD-Live features at this time include a poll to vote "Where Is The Best Place To Hide A Body?", as well as just downloadable trailers for current and upcoming Sony Blu-ray releases. The Picture-in-Picture track was alright, it got old really fast, nothing very interesting. The standard definition extras drop it a bit in my book, 5/10.
Blu-news Summary:Prom Night was a solid teen slasher flick for teens, but I don't see it appealing to many people. The overall suspense was quite bland. The video was good, but not demo material by any means. Audio was a bit dissapointing, it just didn't ever bring the atmosphere. Extras were quite good, although all features were in standard defintion, a definite negative. Overall I would say 'Give It A Rent.'

I watched this BD this past weekend and while I thought it looked great, the movie itself was dreadful. I should have rented this instead.
Yes, I agree. Better off as a rental.
