When We Left Earth: The Nasa Missions Blu-ray Review

When We Left Earth: The Nasa Missions Blu-ray Review
Written by Loys Johnson
When We Left Earth comes to Blu-ray with a solid 1080i video presentation. It was definitely a mixed bag, but I could not have asked for a better presentation. The footage ranges from the beginning to current times of space travel. Interviews and more recent footage looked fantastic, while older material was not so appealing. It's hard to ask for something to look good though, when it was probably not that great to begin with. 6/10.

Disc One:
Ordinary Superman (48:16)
Friends And Rivals (49:11)

Disc Two:
Landing The Eagle (51:22)
The Explorers (49:15)

Disc Three:
The Shuttle (48:05)
A Home In Space (48:31)

English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround is included, and sounds quite good. Narration is nice and clear, and any featured interviews were clear as well. Surround was not put to much use, although it did manage to make use during most shuttle launches. As a documentary series, I could not have asked for more though. 7/10.

Extras were featured on each disc, with disc four including original NASA films. There was quite a bit of footage there! All in 1080i high-def as well, although a lot of footage was clearly upconverted footage. Anyone interested in the series will have a lot of things to check out with this release. 6/10.

Blu-news Summary
When We Left Earth: The Nasa Missions provides some amazing footage, and was very impressed overall. The video presentation is very solid, and as good as it gets considering the source, the same goes with the audio as well. Extras were definitely there, although not all was entertaining. Fans of space travel history will definitely love this package, and I say 'Recommended.'To Order From, Click Here!
