Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Blu-ray Review

Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Blu-ray Review
Written by Loys JohnsonVideo
Kit Kittredge comes to Blu-ray with a 1080p VC-1 video presentation. The film looks quite good for the most part, as the majority of the transfer retained good amounts of detail and fantastic colors. But there were also a few dull indoor scenes, in which the transfer felt a bit more flat and grainy. Any outdoor scene though looked fantastic, with bright colors, great detail down to every inch of clothing. I never felt the transfer looked terrible despite the weaker scenes, and I was actually more impressed with it overall. 7.5/10.

Warner has opted not to go lossless with this title, and has only included an English 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track. The Dolby Digital track is fine for the most part, with a film where dialogue is key. Dialogue was nice and clear, with the film's music make a decent use of the surround speakers. The audio never impressed, and more than likely it wouldn't have been much more impressive with lossless audio, but it would have still been appreciated. 6/10.

American Girl Trailers:
American Girl: Felicity (:17) (SD)
American Girl: Molly (:22) (SD)
Samantha: An American Girl Holiday (:17) (SD)

The only extras available are trailers for other American Girl films now available on DVD. The DVD version of the film did get quite a few extras for the actual film though, disappointing to see Warner. 0/10.Blu-news Summary
Kit Kittredge was a nice little surprise, as it really provides a nice cute story for families to enjoy. Abigail Breslin stars as Kit Kittredge, bringing her fantastic acting skills to the table, and I felt she did a fantastic job with the character. The film has a lot of heart, and a story kids and parents will both love. The Blu-ray release is a mixed bag, but felt the video presentation was the strongest part of the release. The audio and extras are both a disappointment, as they are each lacking. The film is fantastic though, and would say 'Worth A Look.'
