Old School Blu-ray Review

Old School Blu-ray Review
Written by Loys JohnsonVideo
Old School comes to Blu-ray with a 1080p AVC/MPEG-4 video presentation. Detail was quite good, and colors were vibrant for the most part. I was quite impressed at how sharp and clear everything look compared to the DVD version. Black levels were solid, and the film managed to have quite a bit of pop, and never felt too dull or flat. I was very pleased with the presentation, and could not imagine it being much better. 8/10.

Paramount has included 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio track, an upgrade over the HD DVD and DVD releases. That said though, the upgrade probably is not massive from the HD DVD release. The film made a light use of the surround speakers, staying mostly front-heavy being a comedy. I was not impressed, but I wasn't disappointed either, it sounded fine, and like the video, I don't think it cold sound any better. 6.5/10.

Blu-news Summary
Old School is such a hilarious and amazing film, similar to Animal House. The cast is fantastic, and one of Will Ferrel's best films (He's not as obnoxious in this one). It's great to see some current stars a few years back, before they were as famous. The film is very funny, and it's one of the most hilarious I have seen in quite some time. Paramount has done a good job with the source, and have created a very pleasing high-def presentation for the film. Extras are not much, but at least the DVD extras were included. Old School on Blu-ray is 'Recommended.'
